healthy coffeeI really doubt coffee is actually bad for you and maybe in small doses a little can offer some health benefits. It’s only when we have a number of strong coffees throughout the day that we might be putting too much stress on our bodies with a high amount of caffeine.

So I’m going to show you how you can make up your own simple mix to create a healthier low caffeine instant coffee. None of the following ingredients are organically certified either so you may prefer to replace them with organic products. Organic coffee can be purchased in supermarkets but the other two products might be a little harder to find organic alternatives.

We only need to mix three different products together and these can be purchased to suit your taste with regards to the brand.

  1. Moccana Dark Roast Coffee.
I choose this brand as it seems to taste quite good, it is competitively prices (look out for specials) and you get a well made glass container you can use for food storage when you finish the coffee.
  2. Ecco Coffee Substitute
This cheap caro coffee alternative is made from barley and tastes great
  3. Nestle Alpen Blend Drinking Chocolate
You can use this or Malted Milo also works well

You can mix these into a container using around 60 % coffee, 30% Caro & 10 % chocolate. Test to suit your taste and I would actually recommend to start with higher amounts of coffee until you slowly get used to less coffee in the mix. Before long you will be drinking 50% less coffee per day and your be feeling better for it.
